Alvaro is one of the founders of Morena Films (1999). In his filmography as a producer, there are titles such as: “Championext” (Javier Fesser), blockbuster of the year 2023 and sequel to “Champions” (Javier Fesser), winner of the Goya Award for best film in 2018; “Everybody knows” (Asghar Farhdi); “Ma ma” (Julio Medem); “Che: The Argentinian” and “Che: Guerrilla” (Steven Soderbergh). In 2020, he premiered “Unfortunate stories” (Javier Fesser) on Amazon and the series “Tales of the Lockdown” for TVE and “Relatos con-fin-a-dos” for Amazon, both series filmed during quarentine. In 2021, he released “Polyamory for dummies” (Fernando Colomo), “Magical Christmas” (Fernando Colomo) and, in 2022, he released “On the Fringe” (Juan Diego Botto).
As a producer and director of documentaries, Alvaro Longoria has produced and directed titles such as “Sons of the Clouds: The Last Colony” (2012), with which he won the Goya Award for Best Documentary, documentaries with a long history and international impact such as the short film “Esperanza” (2016), based on one of the trips of the Greenpeace ship to the Arctic and “Sanctuary” (2019), a portrait of Greenpeace’s Southern Ocean campaign, starring the Bardem brothers. “The Propaganda Game” (2015), which analyzes the various techniques and strategies of propaganda in North Korea, “Two Catalonias” (2018), a documentary that shows the never-before-seen face of the elections in Catalonia, “Neither distinct nor different, Champions” (2018), a documentary about the routines of the lives of the protagonists of Champions, told by them and their families. Among his most recent titles are: “Tequila. Sex, Drugs and Rock & Roll” (2022), which tells the story of the legendary rock band that anthemed the Spanish transition or “The Life of Brianeitor” (2023), premiered in the Made in Spain section of the 71st Edition of the San Sebastian International Film Festival.
In his long career, Alvaro Longoria has won a Goya Award as a director with “Sons of the Clouds”, and has obtained 2 nominations with the titles “Esperanza” and “The Propaganda Game”. In his career as a producer, he has been nominated 9 times.
