Synopsis
“Ganas de vivir” tells the extraordinary story of Desirée Vila, a leading Spanish athlete in para sport, known both for her achievements on the track and for her ability to inspire through her personal journey. At 16, when she was the Spanish champion in acrobatic gymnastics, she suffered a serious injury that—due to medical negligence—led to the amputation of her right leg. Far from giving up, she found a new passion in athletics and, in just one year, became Spanish champion in the 100 meters and long jump. Since then, she has broken several national records and earned an Olympic diploma at the Tokyo Paralympic Games, establishing herself as one of the most influential voices advocating for equality, inclusion, and personal resilience.
Directed by Juan Manuel Montilla, El Langui, in his feature directorial debut, the film is a journey of perseverance that seeks to inspire and raise awareness by exploring themes such as forgiveness, a positive acceptance of the life each of us has been given, and the importance of highlighting role models capable of transforming the way society views disability in order to move toward full inclusion.
